COVID-19 Safety Plan

COVID-19 Preparedness Plan for the Owego Fallen Firefighters Memorial Golf Tournament

The Owego Fallen Firefighters Memorial Golf Tournament is committed to providing a safe and healthy experience for all our workers and participants.  To ensure we have a safe and healthy environment, the Owego Fallen Firefighters Memorial Golf Tournament has developed the following COVID-19 Preparedness Plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Participants and workers are all responsible for implementing this plan.  Our goal is to mitigate the potential for transmission of COVID-19 at our Tournament, and that requires full cooperation among our workers and players.  Only through this cooperative effort can we establish and maintain the safety and health of all persons at our tournament.

The COVID-19 Preparedness Plan is administered by Chief Jim Morris and our Trustee’s of the Board, Tournament who maintains the overall authority and responsibility for the plan.  However,
management of the golf course, workers and players are equally responsible for supporting, implementing, complying with and providing recommendations to further improve all aspects of
this COVID-19 Preparedness Plan.  Owego Fallen Firefighters Memorial Golf Tournament managers are in full support in enforcing the provisions of this plan.  Your involvement is
essential in implementing a successful COVID-19 Preparedness Plan.  We encourage everyone to be responsible and follow existing CDC and New York State Health Department guidelines.

Golf Day Testing

All employees of the golf club, workers of the Owego Fallen Firefighters Memorial Golf Tournament and our players are strongly encouraged to stay home if you are sick. The tournament requests that everyone self-test your temperature prior to leaving for the tournament.  If your health status prior to arrival at the tournament is a temperature of 100.4 degrees or you are sick or experiencing symptoms please stay home!

Please bring an appropriate face covering to the tournament.

Club House Drop-off, pick-up and practice areas

Due to the high volume of persons in these areas, everyone is required to wear facial coverings.  Bag collection points, cart pick-up areas and food and beverage areas will also be included.  Prior to leaving these areas, everyone is encouraged to sanitize by washing your hands with soap and water or utilizing appropriate disinfectant sprays or gels.

Check in and out

It is critically important that each player, worker and guest at the golf club report to the check in area prior to starting the tournament.  Teams will be recorded, workers will be checked in and assigned work areas and all other guests of the course must be documented.  If players change teams, please let the check in desk know so it may be changed on our registration sheets.  This is critically important so we can make notifications should a positive COVID-19 test come back on anyone at this tournament!

On the course

Everyone is encouraged to have a wonderful time during the tournament!  The use of protective equipment is recommended while on the course, however if a social distance can be maintained
during play, protective equipment may be relaxed.  Please stay with your team and do not congregate in large groups.

Use of the bathrooms, club house and concession areas will require face coverings when in these areas.  You are also requested to wash or sanitize your hands prior to returning to the course.  Please maintain adequate hydration while playing with a combination of drinks and water!  Workers and players are encouraged to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

Social distancing of at least six feet will be implemented and maintained between workers and participants on the golf course.

Post Tournament Banquet

Basic infection prevention measures are being implemented at our tournament.  Workers are instructed to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water frequently throughout the day, but especially at the beginning and end of their shift, prior to any mealtimes and after using the restroom.  All players and guests are required to wash or sanitize their hands prior to or immediately upon entering the facility to eat.  Hand-sanitizer dispensers (that use sanitizers of greater than 60% alcohol) are at golf course so they can be used for hand hygiene in place of soap and water, as long as hands are not visibly soiled.

All players and guests are requested to maintain small groups at the banquet this year and utilize facial coverings when not eating or drinking.  Prior to leave for the day, we would request that you wash your hands one last time to avoid taking home any sickness to your family!  If you should get sick and test positive for COVID-19 within two weeks of the tournament, please notify us immediately!

We truly hope you have a great time and we appreciate your support of the Owego Fallen Firefighter Memorial Golf Tournament and being safe from COVID-19!
